Developments in Knebworth
The Parish Council is not the planning authority, North Herts Council runs the planning processes for the district.
The Parish Council is a statutory consultee on applications within the parish. The information on these pages summarises the current situation regarding the proposals from landowners and North Herts Council for expansion of the village.
The North Herts Council Local Plan was adopted in November 2022 and is in force now. It can be found at https://www.north-herts.gov.uk/north-herts-local-plan-2011-2031 and more information is available on the Local Plan page of this website.
For Knebworth, the plan proposes 759 new homes, including 598 on three new large sites. KB1 and KB2 lie to the west of the main village, with KB4 to the east.
Knebworth Neighbourhood Plan
Knebworth has its own Neighbourhood Plan. This was adopted in May 2022, following a referendum on it on 5 May 2022 and over five years of local community effort. The result of the referendum was 1449 votes in favour of the neighbourhood plan with 243 votes against. Our Neighbourhood Plan does not propose building any more housing or changing the Green Belt, instead it contains objectives and policies that will help to shape how the develops proposed in the Local Plan and any further development happen e.g. retaining character, design, environment.
